Typical Applications:
Narrow tunnels: Such as utility tunnels (water, sewage, electrical), ventilation shafts, and escape tunnels.
Mining operations: Especially in underground mines where drift (horizontal passage) sizes are small.
Access tunnels: For hydroelectric projects, pipelines, or other infrastructure.
Small-scale road or railway tunnels: Especially in initial phases or tight working spaces where multi-boom jumbos are too large.
Tunnel Dimensions:
A single-arm jumbo is generally suitable for tunnels up to around 6 to 8 meters in width and height, depending on the model and boom reach.
Advantages:
Cost-effective: Lower operational and maintenance costs compared to multi-arm jumbos.
Compact size: Ideal for confined spaces.
High maneuverability: Easier to position in smaller or irregular tunnel profiles.
If the tunnel is larger or needs faster drilling cycles (e.g., major railway or highway tunnels), double or triple-arm jumbos are more appropriate.
