Test Procedure
Preparation
Park the rig on stable ground and secure it.
Check hydraulic system pressure, lubrication, and control settings.
Load the drill rod magazine (if equipped).
Function Test
Rod Picking: Activate the system to grab a rod from the magazine.
Rod Positioning: Verify smooth movement from magazine to drill head.
Rod Connection: Thread the rod into the drill string automatically and check torque application.
Drilling Test: Drill a short section to confirm stability and thread integrity.
Rod Disconnection: Reverse the process to remove the rod and return it to storage.
Cycle Repetition
Repeat several connect/disconnect cycles (e.g., 10–20 times) to test reliability.
Observe for jamming, misalignment, or hydraulic delays.
📊 Inspection Points
Alignment accuracy: Rod threads should connect smoothly without cross-threading.
Hydraulic stability: No leakage, pressure drop, or jerky movements.
Connection torque: Should meet manufacturer's specification.
Cycle time: Automatic operation should be faster than manual.
Safety sensors: Emergency stop and interlocks should function properly.
