Weather Conditions
Mountain weather can be unpredictable, which will affect both the shotcrete application and the machinery:
Temperature: Wet shotcrete is sensitive to temperature. Cold temperatures at higher altitudes may cause the mix to set too quickly or too slowly, potentially affecting bonding. Consider using accelerators for colder conditions and ensure adequate curing time if temperatures are low.
Rain or Snow: Weather conditions such as rain, snow, or fog can complicate the spraying process. Wet shotcrete requires a stable environment for proper curing, so plan work around weather forecasts. If necessary, set up temporary shelters to shield the work area from the elements.
Wind: Strong winds in the mountains can blow the shotcrete off target or cause uneven spraying. Consider using windbreaks or tarps to protect the spray area.
