1. Flat Rack Container

Advantages: They can accommodate taller or wider equipment than standard containers. Additionally, these containers can handle heavy loads, making them suitable for large, heavy shotcrete machines.

Securing the Machine: The machine is secured with lashing points on the flat rack's base, ensuring stability during transport.

 

2. Open-Top Container

Description: An open-top container has side walls but no roof, which can be covered with a removable tarp. This design allows for loading from the top, which is beneficial if the machine is too tall for a standard container.

Advantages: The machine can be loaded easily from the top, and the open-top design can accommodate taller equipment. Once loaded, the tarp provides protection from weather during transport.

Ideal Use: If the machine's height exceeds that of a standard container but can still fit within the open-top limits, this is a good choice.

 

3. High Cube Container (for Smaller Models)

Description: High cube containers are 9.5 feet high, providing one additional foot of height compared to standard containers. They come fully enclosed, offering extra protection.

Advantages: If the shotcrete machine fits within this slightly taller space, high cube containers offer better protection against weather and are more economical than special containers.

Limitations: This container works only if the shotcrete machine can fit within the high cube's dimensions; it's less suitable for larger or bulkier models.

 

4. Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) Shipping (if using no container)

Description: In Ro-Ro shipping, machinery is driven or wheeled directly onto the vessel without using a container. This method is common for large, self-propelled or trailer-mounted equipment.

Advantages: Ideal for very large or heavy machinery that cannot be disassembled or fit within any container type. It reduces handling and minimizes the risk of damage.

Drawbacks: Since it isn't containerized, it's more exposed to environmental elements, so additional coverings or weatherproofing might be required.

 

Choosing the Right Option

The flat rack or open-top container is usually the best choice for most wet robotic shotcrete machines, as these containers accommodate oversized equipment well while providing secure anchoring during sea transport. High cube containers are suitable if the machine fits within the extra height but may not work for larger machines. For exceptionally large models, Ro-Ro shipping might be the only feasible option.

Carefully checking the machine's dimensions against container specs will help determine the best shipping method, ensuring safety and efficiency during sea transport.
